Maple Syrup – it’s that time of year!
Sugar season is underway, and producers are gearing up for this weekend, March 16th & 17th, it’s Maple Weekend here in New Hampshire. Stop by any local sugar house and learn the importance of the freeze-thaw cycle, and the process involved in procuring that liquid gold. Some use sap buckets and some use plastic tubing, and some use a combination of both to collect the sap. The sap is then boiled down to a beautiful amber color and bottled for all to enjoy on pancakes, waffles or even a bowl of oatmeal.
Closest sugar house to us is the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation’s 100-Acre Wood Sugar Shack located on Route 302 in Intervale.
In addition to syrup, most sugar houses also have delectable treats that also make great gifts. For a complete list of other sugar houses in New Hampshire visit www.nhmapleproducers.com.
Enjoy!
